Registration

K4 at Stormonth is a half-day program. Families may request to be in a morning or afternoon class. Students must be four years old by September 1 to enter K4 in the fall. K5 at Stormonth is a full day program. Students must be 5 years old by September 1 to enter K5 in the fall.

Our program balances top-notch academics with the social-emotional needs of the whole child. Students engage in developmentally appropriate activities, including the foundational skills for literacy and mathematics, and learning through play. On any given day, students learn in a whole group setting and in small group instruction with the teacher. Our teachers focus on the individual needs of each child to help move them forward. Our program incorporates movement, song, dance and a focus on play based learning.

Students in K4 and K5 attend weekly physical education, art, music and Spanish classes. Students also participate in library classes and social emotional learning lessons with a school counselor. We hold monthly all-school assemblies called STORM Rallies where students are recognized for being safe, respectful and responsible.

Our students benefit from the expertise of reading specialists, math specialists, instructional coaches, talent development teachers and school counselors. Our Special Education program includes full inclusion of students with special needs in the general education environment, with the support from special educators, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and more. Our goal is to promote college and career readiness for every child, beginning in the early grades.

Our teachers and staff focus on building strong relationships with our students. It is our top priority for every child and family to feel welcome, safe and comfortable at school. To support students’ social and emotional development, we implement RULER, an evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning (SEL) developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. RULER helps our school community understand the value of emotions, build emotional intelligence skills, and create and maintain a positive school climate. Family connection and engagement are also critical to our students’ success, and we invite families to volunteer and participate in monthly family engagement activities.
