Special Education

At Stormonth Elementary School, the Special Education Team, with the assistance of peer models, offers a coffee cart program for our students with special needs. This program engages students in counting inventory, taking orders, making and delivering hot (Keurig style)  beverages to staff on Fridays. This experience provides authentic practice opportunities for basic math and reading skills, fine and gross motor and speech and language development, and an opportunity to have meaningful development of social skills.

Bayside Middle School continues to reinforce positive peer and staff interactions while using functional life skills to promote career readiness through the coffee and snack cart programs. Once a week, the Bayside "Bull-Ristas" have positive interactions with staff and their peers. The Bull-Ristas use social communication and math skills while delivering coffee and snacks. 

The Fox Point-Bayside School District offers preschool evaluations for children ages 3-5 who are suspected of having a disability in the areas of speech/language; motor skills; social skill development and/or cognitive development.

Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards

Students at Bayside Middle School have the opportunity to join PALS (Peers Assisting Life Skills) at the beginning of each school year. PALS is an opportunity for regular education students to assist students with special education needs both in the classroom as well as in the community. The PALS program offers activities and outings to promote reciprocal social and life skill development. We are a group committed to working collaboratively to ensure all students have the skills they need to live happy, independent, and fulfilling lives. 

Fox Point-Bayside School District offers speech and language intervention to all students who meet the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) criteria for this program, from age 3 years through 8th grade.   We know that strong communication skills support academic and personal growth. Intervention takes place across academic settings, through a variety of approaches.
