Helpful Technical Tips and Troubleshooting

In grades 1-8, we encourage you to use your assigned chromebook. If you are using a shared personal device, please make sure to sign out of your Google accounts in the Chrome browser.

If you are having issues, turn off Chromebook and after 30 seconds turn the device back on.

If you are using a personal device, always use the Chrome browser for your foxbay.org account (Mac or PC).

Check that the Chrome Internet Browser is updated (Mac or PC)

In the Chrome browser, click on the 3 dots in upper right corner of screen >

If you are using a Chromebook, check that the Chrome OS is updated.

Click on the bottom right hand corner, by the time
-
Click the Gear button and then “Settings”

Scroll down to the bottom left and click “About Chrome OS”

Select “Check for Updates”

After updating, restart your chromebook

Having issues connecting to wifi? Have you checked your home Internet connection?

The bottom right corner of the Chromebook will show available networks.

If you are experiencing an outage or continuing to have wifi issues, contact your internet service provider.

Please also ensure you have a strong signal to Internet equipment within your home.

If bandwidth is an issue, limit the amount of devices on your network at one time.

Limit the amount of streaming activity as this uses more bandwidth.

Make sure you are in range of your router for wifi connections

If you are having trouble during a Google Meet, try the following:

Limit the number of tabs that are open on your browser. Close all other tabs not in use.

Check that your camera and microphone is enabled. Click the icon in the URL in the browser window to check that it is enabled or turned “on”.

Make sure your device is updated

Check your internet connection

Limit the number of devices that are connected to the internet.

Restart your device

If your chromebook freezes and you are unable to restart, do a Hard Reset on your chromebook by following the steps below:
