Fall Reopening 2020-21 Decision
Message from the Superintendent
On Tuesday, July 28, 2020, The Fox Point-Bayside School Board approved the district's Fall 2020 School Reopening Plan. Click the " Fall Reopening Presentation - July 28, 2020 BOE" to view the latest parent and staff survey data results that are part of the presentation from last evening's school board meeting.
The main model is an A/B Day Cohort Model with students in the first half of the alphabet (keeping households together), attending in-person on Monday and Wednesday, and for virtual instruction on Tuesday and Thursday, and unstructured learning on Fridays; and with students in the second half of the alphabet (keeping households together) attending in-person on Tuesday and Thursday, and for virtual instruction on Monday and Wednesday, and unstructured learning on Fridays. The only difference from the A/B Day Cohort Model schedule is that K4 and K5 students will attend 4-days per week, Monday through Thursday, with unstructured learning on Fridays.
In addition, any student can opt out of the A/B Day Cohort Model and attend the Virtual Only Model for instruction, every day, Monday through Thursday, with unstructured learning on Fridays.
A decision to attend school in the A/B Day Cohort Model or Virtual Only Model is by the trimester. Changes from one model to the other model can be made for the start of the second trimester. We will create a form for each parent to select the model for each student's fall attendance to be completed in early August.
Just for your planning purposes, masks will be required to be worn by all students, staff, and school visitors, on all district property, to start the 2020-21 school year, until further notice.
Now that the fall 2020 reopening plan has been determined, the administrative team is working on details and will be providing email communications about fall 2020 reopening information that will be added to the district's website. We appreciate your patience through this laborious process.
Sincerely,
Jeff
