Overview of the SCHOOL DISTRICT HANDBOOK:

The 2012-13 school year is intended to provide a wealth of learning opportunities, experiences and challenges for our students. It is our goal to partner with you in providing a safe and engaging learning environment in which students can learn and grow as responsible members of the school community.

The School District Handbook will provide you with important information on the policies, procedures, and guidelines that help us to assure a safe and orderly learning environment. Please read through this handbook so that you are familiar with the topics covered and use it as a reference point throughout the year. We value the shared responsibility we have in creating a learning environment that is engaging, growth producing and safe for all.

The handbook is divided into four sections:

• General District Information outlining policies and procedures that pertains to both schools and impacts all students, K-8.
• Stormonth Elementary School specific information, procedures and policies for students and their families.
• Bayside Middle School specific information, procedures and policies for students and families.
• School Board Policies and Procedures that pertain to school and student issues.

The Table of Contents beginning on page 4 can help you to more quickly find the information you are looking for. For your convenience, a list of district and school administrators and staff are listed on page 7 of the handbook.  The 2012-13 school district calendar is on page 10.

Please take the time to read through the information provided in this handbook and to share pertinent aspects of it with your child to help assure your child has a positive school experience. On behalf of the entire administrative team, we look forward to partnering with you in creating an educational environment of mutual respect, responsibility, and engagement. 2012-13 District EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK

The District Employee Handbook is for all district employees and provides information, guidelines, policies and procedures related to employment in the district.  In addition, specific employee groups each receive an addendum outlining compensation, benefits, working conditions and other items specific to that employee group.  

You should find the Handbook easy to navigate by using the Table of Contents. If you have any questions about the contents of the handbook, please contact either Ms. Amy Kohl, Director of Business Services or Dr. Rachel Boechler, District Administrator for further clarification.
