Emergency Closing
General Emergency Closing Information
All school closings due to inclement weather or other emergencies will be broadcast by WTMJ (620 am radio, TV4), WITI (TV6), WISN (1130 am radio, TV12), WDJT (TV58) and WKTI (94.5 FM radio). Emergency closings made during the school day that require an evacuation of one or both school buildings will follow the school evacuation procedures as outlined.

Emergency Dismissal
Parents are asked to make arrangements for the care of their children in the event that school is closed due to an emergency. Parents should instruct their children about arrangements made for them in the event school is closed during the normal school hours. We will make every attempt to notify parents if such an event should occur.

Emergency Procedures For Fire Drills, Take Cover And Evacuation

Fire Drills
Fire Drills for the entire school will be held on a regular basis. State law requires drills be held monthly. We will do our best to pick the mildest days for these drills.

Take Cover Procedures
In the event that circumstances dictate a “take shelter” situation (i.e. tornado), each teacher will escort students to an assigned designated shelter area. Students who are outside the building will be called inside. Tornado drills are held during active tornado months.

Evacuation Procedure
If time permits, parents will be notified and students shall be sent home to their normal destination. If there is an immediate need to evacuate the building, students will be escorted to a safe, off-site location. Parents would be notified to pick up their children from that location.
